Relaxer Directions of Use

1. Application

  • Sectioning: Start applying the relaxer crème to new growth in the back sections of your hair, making small ¼ inch partings.
  • Application: Apply the Relaxer Crème to new growth (or virgin hair) using the back of a tail comb or a relaxer applicator. Work from the nape to the crown, then from the crown to the hairline, applying to hairline edges last.

2. Retouching New Growth

  • New Growth Only: Apply only on the new growth. Do not apply sooner than six weeks after your last relaxer treatment.
  • Avoid Overlapping: Do not spread or overlap relaxer crème mixture on previously relaxed hair.

3. Virgin Hair

  • Detangling: Before applying relaxer crème, carefully and gently detangle hair in each section with a wide tooth comb. Do not force the comb through tangles.
  • Full-Length Application: Spread the relaxer crème down the entire length of the hair, from roots to tips, section by section.
  • Even Distribution: Use fingers or a wide tooth comb to distribute the relaxer crème through each section for even coverage. Do not touch the scalp or pull through tangles; use fingers to rake mixture through hair.

4. Smoothing

  • New Growth: For retouching, smooth only the new growth. Use a wide tooth comb to separate hair into small sections, avoiding scalp contact.
  • Virgin Hair: For virgin hair, smooth from roots to tips with fingers. Follow the natural hair pattern and check the timing guide for recommended smoothing time.

5. Rinse Relaxer with Water

  • Thorough Rinse: Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water to remove all relaxer crème. Keep eyes closed tightly and avoid face contact. Use fingers to gently open parts in the hair for thorough rinsing. Do not pull or tug.
  • Complete Removal: Ensure all visible traces of relaxer crème are removed before proceeding.

6. Shampoo with Neutralizing Hair Wash

  • Initial Shampoo: Apply neutralizing hair wash after all visible traces of relaxer are rinsed out. Work into a lather, rinse thoroughly, and repeat 2-3 times.
  • Final Rinse: After the final rinse, gently squeeze excess water from hair.

7. Coat Hair with Restorative Conditioner

  • Application: Apply a generous amount of restorative conditioner. Gently comb through with a wide tooth comb from roots to tips, detangling without pulling. Add more conditioner to tangled areas as needed.
  • Conditioning: Leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Gently squeeze and towel blot excess water from hair.
